Kavitha

Kavitha Chandra-Shekeran is a local resident and has a number of years experience working with diverse communities as a community development worker.

Kavitha has specific community experience working with refugee young people. Recently as a policy and project officer at the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission Kavitha has advised and developed policy and project responses in relation to human rights and discrimination.

Kavitha is currently on secondment from the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission at the Neighbourhood Justice Centre in Collingwood as the Community Engagement and Communications Coordinator.

Kavitha is particularly committed to supporting community participation and social justice and over the last two years on the NYCH Board has enjoyed being involved and learning from the Community Liaison Committee.
