Brian began his service as board member when he joined Fitzroy Community Health Association in 1979, which became Fitzroy Community Health Centre in 1983 and North Yarra Community Health in 1994.

Brian is a psychiatrist in private practice, working in Fitzroy since 1997. His interests are family therapy, social medicine and the advancement of community health.

Since 2003 he has also been on the Board of Dental Health Services Victoria.
