Needle & Syringe Program
This is part of our broad range Drug Safety Services. We aim to provide a quality, confidential and non-judgemental health service, and our emphasis is on reducing the harm associated with illicit drug use - to users themselves, their friends and families, and the whole community.
- New syringes and disposal facilities for used injecting equipment are available at all NYCH Centres during normal opening hours.
- External disposal chutes are located at Carlton, Collingwood and Fitzroy Centres, and at Innerspace.
- Syringe Disposal Hot Line – Ph. (03) 9417 5125. This is a 24 hour message bank, and anyone finding a discarded syringe in the City of Yarra can phone 9417 5125 so that it can be safely removed.
- A Needle and Syringe Outreach Service operates 365 days from 7.30pm until 11.15pm.
Deliveries can be made to the Inner North-Eastern suburbs ie up to Northcote, Hawthorn, West Melbourne and Richmond, including Carlton, Fitzroy, and Collingwood (but not including Melbourne City CBD).
