Occupational Therapy

Illness or a disability makes it hard to do many normal activities like going to work or school, going out, having a shower or preparing a meal.

Occupational Therapists provide services to people of all ages to overcome some of those limitations. They work with the person by assessing their skills, living environment and life style, and a holistic approach helps to design interventions that are unique to someone's individual needs.

Occupational Therapists can undertake home assessments to ensure safety and accessibility, and make recommendations for modifications and adaptive equipment to increase independence. They can work with clients on goal setting and life planning, looking at skills and suitable activities to improve a person's quality of life.

Part of the funding for this position requires working with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, including people living in rooming houses and emergency accommodation.
