Physiotherapy Service
Physiotherapy services are available at all three NYCH Centres.
Our physiotherapists provide assessment, treatment and health education to their clients on a wide variety of problems including musculoskeletal injuries (eg back strain, arthritic symptoms), respiratory disorders (eg asthma), sports injuries and women's health (eg incontinence).
It is not necessary to have a doctor's referral.
The aim is to provide quality treatment, a holistic approach in clinical practice and to ensure that clients are actively involved in their treatment goals and the decision making related to their health care.
The physiotherapy team is also very active in health promotion activities and coordinates many of our exercise and fitness groups. These include: Arthritis Self-Help groups, Water Exercise classes (including women only), Pre- and postnatal Exercises, walking programs, Gentle Yoga, Stress Management, Falls Prevention sessions, a Chronic Pain group, Light Weight Training and more. For a comprehensive list see Groups.
A special focus is those members of our community who have special needs, and for these reasons have difficulty accessing other mainstream services. These may be people from a non-English speaking background, low-income, or other marginalised groups who require sensitive consideration of their needs in all aspects of their care.
To contact a physiotherapist or for information about the exercise groups you can phone any of our Centres.
