Health Promotion

Health Promotion is a core component of all our programs and services and it is defined as ‘the process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve their health’ (Ottawa Charter, 1986). NYCH is committed to improving the health of the community by incorporating Health Promotion Principles into all aspects of our planning and service provision.

To promote good health in our community North Yarra Community Health supports many Groups & Activities and participates in and organises special community events and community development projects. We also encourage people who live in our area to be involved with our activities through our Community Liaison forums.

Many of our programs and activities have close links with local organisations and service providers. We also encourage volunteers to become involved with our work - see Volunteers.

Many of our staff are available for health promotion and health education talks to community groups.
